Piano Hip Hop
I was surfing the net late last night and stumbled up David Sides. He’s definitely unique in how his solo piano recitals capture to essence of hip, take a look and listen below. Very cool.

Watching the videos of David causes me to reminisce of the days back in high school when I was in the marching and jazz bands playing the alto sax. I haven’t touched the sax ever since I graduated; having as many as 3 band classes a day, after school practices, concerts, field competitions and tours to Mexico, San Francisco and the Caribbean really burned me out. I needed a good break from it, but it’s been way too long, almost 14 years!! Now if I can just muster up the courage to start playing again… arg there is yet another money and time investment I’m not sure if I’m ready with… lets watch another video!!
Kanye Medley
Although I had no where near the talent and capabilities of David Sides I do enjoy creating music very much and seeing others do the same. w00t! In an interview I watched on YouTube, David mentions that he first started my listening to songs and trying to imitate them on a keyboard he got for Christmas one year. That little bit of dedication led to his formal studies in music, YouTube recitals, MySpace page, multiple concerts, and even a CD.
I bought one this morning, I couldn’t help but support his career.
I wouldn’t be surprised if this guys ends up famous from YouTube, not unlike the Filipino singer who now is the lead singer for Journey. Ok, well, enough of my babbling praise… lets listen/watch one more video, although outside of his prominent hip hop genre its a song we all know. Cheers.
